“Show Me the Money!” That was the famous line from the 1996 film “Jerry Maguire” – and I got to meet the real life Jerry Maguire while producing the inaugural Fintech Islands event. David Meltzer, one of our featured speakers at the conference, formerly served as CEO of the renowned Leigh Steinberg Sports & Entertainment agency, which was the inspiration for the movie. He’s now a best-selling author, a Top 100 Business Coach, and the host of several successful podcasts and TV shows. Meltzer is a charismatic, generous guy with a life’s mission to empower OVER 1 BILLION people to be happy – and David made me a bit happier so he’s one person closer to his goal!
Over a rum punch at the Barbados museum, David casually extended me an invitation to appear on one of his TV shows, an Apple TV series called “Office Hours.” I was on my way to Las Vegas anyway to attend the Money20/20 conference and the dates lined up nicely for a the taping at a the Blue Wire Studio in the swanky Wynn Hotel. And so, I arrived ready for anything and with very little idea about the format of the show or what to expect. As it turns out, it was a blast – and I think I fared pretty well in my Apple TV debut. I served alongside David and others as a panelist to interview a series of guests, each promoting a book or an entrepreneurial venture. The episodes will begin airing in early 2023 and don’t be surprised if you see my smiling mug on an airport TV in the near future.
